No 12s for me

However I did manage to pull off some impressive trap speeds and very very poor 60' times. Keep in mind my car is pretty much completely stock. Stock engine with the home built hx40 kit, stock tranny with upgraded clutch packs, street tires, full interior and completely stock suspension. I'd say this is about as close to 12s as you can get without some other modifications (such as drag radials/higher stall torque converter). It made for an interesting day of actual 12 second cars outlaunching the crap out of me and then me reeling them in

Best and worst timeslips:

Couple videos from the day:

Also note, I seem to have beaten spys trap speed for his 12 second run

Who cares what it traps, its about the quarter mile ET. With that trap speed you should be doing mid 12s or better.

You should be making enough power to pull at least a 2.0 60' if you grabbed traction. That alone would tip you into the 12s. Find a set of DRs on the cheap.

Great job, no question you have a mid 12-second car there. I'd like to see a scan graph of the datalog, you might be able to add more timing down low, possibly pull a little at the top end.

But you obviously have to be very careful, too, you have more power available than you need to hit a 12, but also enough there to damage the drivetrain.

Sure with some lower 60' times he could be in the 12's but who knows how well the trans is going to hold up with DRs.

Good times

Not to be a ****, but again... we know. We spent all day yesterday trying to find some way into the 12s. We came to the conclusion it wasn't gonna happen with what we had.

I'll get one up here later.

Added ridiculous amounts of timing down low. Beyond point of diminishing returns. The car just wasn't gonna go any faster.

It blows the tires off from about 3600 on in first and part of the way into second though. Street tires weren't enough.

Indeed. Tranny is still pretty functional but is showing signs of pissyness.

Building a 12 second motor is a piece of cake with these cars though.... Yea I just said that. We didn't even try to overbuild this engine for the traction that was available, but we did. I don't see why it's such a struggle for people with bigger budgets to run 12's or 11's even. This build was far short of $3k and if we had more time and money, it would be an easy 12.

Someone out there should go do it.

Oh and...

112.41 vs.................... I never scanned it, but I have trapped 118mph before. Then again same run I blew the headgasket and clutch so the time was a 12.4

We figured you had a higher trap.

We'll settle for the 3400 trap record.

You should have heard the people in the stands on his first run.

Camaro on slicks lines up with a POS grand am on steelies and street tires. Spectators giggled and scoffed at the GA. Camaro jumps the GA out of the hole then is reeled in and passed by the POS grand am on steelies. The WTF factor was through the roof.

the four bangers can get out of the hole as long as you got the build to do so. . when there stock they push hard but when there built they fly.
